What is BVW?

Pioneered by co-founder Randy Pausch of Entertainment Technology Center of CMU, Building Virtual Worlds (BVW) challenges students to work quickly, creatively and collaboratively. Part of the immersion semester, BVW gives small teams of students two weeks to create a virtual world, with new groups and goals for each round. 

Round 1
REMEMBER ME

What did I do?

  • Programmer - interactive part & HoloLens hardware.

 

What did I learn?

  • How to connect reality to MR world via user-friendly interaction.

  • great game mechanics and user experience are more important than high-level tech skills.

  • Extract concept and arrange workflow quickly.

Platform: Hololens 2

Duration: 2 weeks

What did I do?

  • Producer  - workflow and task tracker, playtesting and iteration.

  • Programmer  - computer part & Oculus hardware.

 

What did I learn?

  • How that playtesting and user feedback iterate and contribute to the next version of the game.

  • Design workflow and Gantt chart to make our work more efficient.

  • Start to writing shader.

What did I learn?

  • Know and develop a new device in a very short term

  • How to solve conflicts in teamwork
